Environmental and sustainability copywriting
Quality journalism and copy for environmental business
Our business is rooted in environmental copy. It’s what we do best.
We regularly add flair and style to white papers, company blogs, newsletters and, of course, our own environmental journalism and PR projects. In some cases, we work to a strict brief; at other times we propose topics or recommend just the right person for an interview.
We understand how hard it can be to find someone you really trust. You don’t just want an environmental copywriter to make things sound good (although that is a prerequisite) – you need one who understands the subject well enough to flag up content issues before your audience spots them, and who delivers your project on time, every time.

Case Study: WRAP – Resource efficient facilities management
When WRAP decided to promote resource efficiency to the FM market, it tendered for a project manager and environmental copywriter to propose and supply a series of case studies demonstrating sustainable behaviour across reuse, food waste, manufacturing and supply chains.
Carolyn Cross was chosen to produce the 10 initial case studies. Following on from the first project, she was asked to write additional examples. This then led to the copywriting of the FM Procurement Toolkit, which adapted a range of documents and presentations to create a searchable online resource.
Case study: Alupro – MetalMatters
Alupro’s MetalMatters programme provides resources to local authorities to help educate householders. The aim is to motivate them to get involved and recycle more metal packaging at home.
Alupro commissioned Carolyn Cross Communication to produce a series of case studies to demonstrate the success of the programme, in addition to writing an overview of the scheme’s achievements.
Blog: Accounting for Energy
Accounting for Energy audits landfill gas equipment arrangements to ensure that landfill owners are receiving full royalty payments from technology providers.
Carolyn Cross Communication chooses the topics and writes a monthly blog for web and LinkedIn targeted advertising. Blog subjects include single-use plastics, social value, and advice for landfill site owners.
“Carolyn is a very clear and well-researched writer. She has very quickly picked up the company voice and tone and has done an excellent job of translating this to our blogs. Carolyn is also flexible and always meets the deadline. She also has a thorough understanding of waste management.”
Freccia Benn, Co-founder and Operations Director, Accounting for Energy
How To Guides: Firstport – Guides to starting out in social enterprise
Firstport offers business support, funding and resources for start-up social enterprises in Scotland.
It asked Carolyn Cross Communication to produce a series of guides to help new entrepreneurs. These ranged from explaining the nature of social enterprise, to Getting Started and Managing Money.
